Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has emerged as the biggest nominee for the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA), securing five nominations as the award ceremony returns after a two-year break.
His collaboration with Omah Lay, "With You," also received nominations for Best Collaboration and Song of the Year.
Announcing the return of the awards, AFRIMMA founder Anderson Obiagwu said the two-year hiatus was necessary to improve the event and deliver a bigger experience for fans.
“For the last two years, AFRIMMA took a break to make it even bigger and create something sensational. AFRIMMA is coming back bigger and better this year. It’s going to be epic, one of a kind,” he said.
Obiagwu also revealed that this year's edition will feature the maiden AFRIMMA Music Festival in Dallas, Texas, with live performances, fashion showcases, food vendors and entertainment from across Africa.
“This year, we’re adding a music festival, the biggest ever in Dallas. There will be several food vendors, fashion vendors, as well as some of the biggest dancers and musicians from different parts of Africa,” he added.
Burna Boy, Ghana's Black Sherif and Tanzania's Diamond Platnumz each earned four nominations, while South African singer Tyla leads the female nominees with three nominations. Nigerian star Tems picked up two nominations.
The Best Influencer category features Nigerian content creators Peller, Carter Efe, Nasty Black and Sabinus, while actors Timini Egbuson, Uzor Arukwe, Bimbo Ademoye and Uche Montana were nominated in the Best Actor/Actress category.
The 2026 AFRIMMA Awards and Music Festival is scheduled to hold on September 12, 2026, at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas.
